The Department of Industrial and Systems Engineering (ISE) at UB is one of founding departments of the School of Engineering and Applied Sciences, created in 1946. We are committed to research and educational excellence across the broad range of industrial and systems engineering disciplines - including operations research, production systems, manufacturing, quality, simulation, and human factors. Our world-class faculty work together at the intersection of these areas on research in a variety of domains, ranging from health care, to defense systems, to intelligent transportations, to advanced manufacturing. Joint projects and joint publications are a way of life for us, reflecting real-world problems that do not fit neatly into traditional academic divisions. Our faculty and student research not only ranges across academic disciplines but also challenges traditional notions of problem-solving and generates creative and groundbreaking solutions.
