Program Information

Degrees Offered:

Ed.M. - Higher Education Administration, Ph.D. - Higher Education Administration

Format: Campus

Program Description:

The Higher Education (HED) area provides a social science based approach to the study of post-secondary education. It emphasizes a multi-disciplinary perspective as a basis for developing effective administrators, scholars, planners or policy makers. We believe that understanding the broad context of higher education - its history, sociology and financing is a necessary preparation for working in today's post-secondary sector. UB maintains a unique interdisciplinary perspective which educates individuals to enter a variety of roles in academic administration, policy making or scholarship. We stress both the practical and the theoretical in our graduate program, and we permit flexibility so that a student may focus in areas of special interest.
