St. John’s offers a 66-credit Master of Science Degree in School Psychology and a 107-credit Psy.D. (Psychology Doctorate) in School Psychology. Both programs prepare students to meet the growing demand for well-trained professionals to address the mental health needs of kindergarten to secondary-school children.
St. John's offers acclaimed graduate programs leading to the Master of Science Degree in School Psychology and the Psy.D. (Psychology Doctor) Degree in School Psychology. Both courses of study prepare students to meet the growing demand for well-trained professionals to address the mental health needs of today’s school children.
The 66-credit M.S. in School Psychology is accredited by the National Association of School Psychologists. Students may specialize in a General and Bilingual Track. Both tracks prepare students for a provisional New York State certificate that authorizes practice as a school psychologist. The certificate is valid for five years. A permanent certificate is granted after two years of experience.
The 107-credt Psy.D. Program is accredited by the American Psychological Association and the National Association of School Psychologists. The program also offers a General and Bilingual Track. In addition to their coursework, students complete a comprehensive exam, the PRAXIS II Examination, a doctoral dissertation and a year-long internship.
