Vibrations Advanced Certificate
Engineers interested in continuing their professional development may wish to pursue graduate study without making a commitment to a masters' degree program. The advanced certificate is a means by which practicing engineers can enhance their career opportunities and professional knowledge. The program is available part-time, on campus, and consists of 15 credits (five courses).
The Advanced Certificate Program in Vibrations Engineering provides students with specialized skills that are sought after in a variety of industrial settings. Engineers with skills in vibration engineering contribute to manufacturing production systems, aerospace systems, automotive engineering, medical product development, building mechanical and plumbing systems, consumer product development, and a host of industrial equipment and process systems. This program emphasizes taking students beyond the normal preparation in vibrations engineering that students typically complete during their undergraduate program of study. Students will learn to use sophisticated software tools, analytical techniques, and experimental methods to design, develop, and implement solutions for problems of vibration control and minimization in engineering systems. Students will be exposed to modern technologies used in industry to insure that Advanced Certificate students are prepared for their specialized job market. The Advanced Certificate in Vibrations Engineering requires each student to successfully complete three required courses and one graduate elective.
Students seeking to earn a Master's degree can use the courses taken within this Advanced Certificate program towards degree requirements for the Master of Science or Master of Engineering degree.
The Advanced Certificate in Vibrations Engineering answers a need for graduate level instruction for practicing engineers in the Greater Rochester area, in a field of importance for the 21st century.
