The Earth and Environmental Sciences Department at Rensselaer offers the opportunity to learn from some of the most accomplished faculty, and to work on some of the most exciting and significant projects in Earth Science. Alumni of our graduate program have gone on to prestigious positions in research science, industry, and academia.
Research concentrations in the Geology program include astrobiology, geochemistry, geomicrobiology, igneous and metamorphic petrology, structural geology, tectonics, geophysics, seismology, paleoceanography and micropaleontology, chemical hydrology, and river and lake pollution.
Rensselaer is accredited by the Middle States Association of Colleges and Schools and by a number of professional and academic societies.
