The Department of Art and Art Professions brings students, practicing artists, educators, and art professionals together in a richly interactive, multidisciplinary community that fosters imaginative art-making, intellectual exchange, and career preparation. Students are immersed in a dynamic New York art world and its endless visual and intellectual stimuli, which provides invaluable learning opportunities and real-life experience. The department offers the M.F.A. program in Studio Art with courses of study in painting and drawing, sculpture, craft media, and print. Our three-summer M.A. program in Studio Art for professional artists and educators allows students to expand their creative potential and refine their skills in an intensive three-summer course of study (with options for three summers in New York City or two summers in Venice, Italy, which is followed by one summer in New York City). Department courses are offered in collaboration with premiere cultural institutions in the city, including the International Center for Photography and the Glass Workshop in Brooklyn. Unique summer graduate study abroad programs in Asia, Europe, and South Africa are available.
