Master of Professional Studies in Fashion Merchandising and Retail Management
In the MPS program you will receive practical and theoretical knowledge of fashion merchandising and retail management. This will allow you to generate the necessary skills to be competitive within the fashion industry.
You will master the key concepts within retail fashion management in regards to merchandising, sales and consumer behavior, retailing (both store operations and leadership) and product management.
Each MPS student will be able to comprehend how to apply mathematical, analytical, and logical aspects of retail strategy reflecting consumer behavior as it relates to fashion retail management.
You will demonstrate intellectual and analytical understanding of merchandise mathematics related to planning, inventory, pricing, and merchandising; with the ability to interpret positive and negative reactions to sales reports and the necessary needed steps to improve company performance.
Through your educational experience in the MPS program, you will develop career prospects in fashion merchandising and retail management, which will enable you to identify sound career choices.
Each student will be able to comprehend the daily operations of the fashion business, through on-the-job work experiences (internship in the fashion industry & capstone project), and to identify major stakeholders and propose viable solutions to realistic and applied fashion management occupational settings.
LIM College has been authorized by the New York State Board of Regents (www.highered.nysed.gov) to confer the degree of Bachelor of Business Administration on graduates of four-year programs in Fashion Merchandising, Visual Merchandising, Marketing and Management; and to confer the degree of Bachelor of Professional Studies on graduates of the four-year program in Fashion Merchandising; and to confer the degrees of Associate in Applied Science and Associate in Occupational Studies on graduates of two-year programs in Fashion Merchandising; and to confer the degree of Master of Business Administration on graduates of the fifteen-month program with concentrations in Fashion Management and Entrepreneurship; and to confer the degree of Master of Professional Studies on graduates of the one-year program in Fashion Merchandising and Retail Management.
International Student Requirements:
We will begin to welcome international students into the MPS programs starting in the fall of 2013. International students may need to show proof of English language proficiency through the TOEFL or IELTS exam.
