Program Description:

The College of Mount Saint Vincent’s Master of Science in International Development and Service (MS-IDS), in collaboration with IPSL, is designed to meet the international demand for ethical leaders who can effectively engage and facilitate partnerships in global communities. Students are prepared for careers with non-profit and community organizations through an interdisciplinary program that combines rigorous academic training with hands-on skill development via service in New York, Europe, Asia, Africa, and South America. Students gain intercultural competency and international experience as well as professional networks that position them to launch meaningful careers post-graduation. Possible areas of specialization include: Art as Social Intervention, Global Health and Disability, and Urban and Multi-Cultural Education. Schedule: The MS-IDS Degree is four semesters in length. The 1st and 4th semesters are at the College of Mount Saint Vincent in New York City. The 2nd and 3rd semesters are IPSL's international partner sites. Students can enroll to begin the IDS program for either the fall or spring semesters.

  • 10-15 hours of service work per week throughout the program. The service placements are in the area of the student's focus: Global NGO/Non-profit Leadership, Arts as Social Intervention, GLobal Health and Disability, Urban and Multi-Cultural Education, and more
  • 36 credits total minimum required for degree. Students can take up to 40 semester credits with no additional IPSL fees/tuition.
  • Program tuition includes: Tuition and fees, academic advising, medical insurance, room and board for two semesters, academic excursions, abroad, academic excursions in Portland and while living abroad, service placement administration, professional development and networking opportunities, orientations, and retreats. Program tuition DOES NOT include room and board for two semesters in NYC, books, international flights, passport and/or visa fees, personal spending money.

Concurrent MBA: Students can also receive a Master's in Business Administration (MBA) for as few as 18 additional credits. The MBA Program is a valuable compliment to the MS in International Development and Service and is distinct in the nation due to its specific focus on socially responsible business management practices in resource - scarce environments.
