Degree Offered:

M.A. in Modern European Studies

Format: Campus

Program Description:

In Columbia's Modern European Studies M.A., you'll study what matters in Europe now, the origins of today's Europe, and Europe's role in global politics, economics, and culture. Our students combine deep knowledge of Europe with advanced work in the humanities and social sciences.

The program is supported by a renowned faculty and Columbia's extensive resources on European history, politics, economics, culture, and society. Graduates go on to careers in government, business, journalism, and the non-profit sector, and doctoral and professional programs at North American and European universities.

Full-time students can complete the program in 12 months. Part-time study is possible. Students design their own programs around a concentration in the humanities or social sciences and take classes on different European regions, Europe as a whole, and Europe's role in global politics, economics, and culture.

The European Institute offers financial aid to highly qualified students and grants to support on-site research in Europe. Study Europe in one of the world's most international cities.
