Certificate -- The certificate in Evolutionary Studies is an "added" certificate, meaning that interested applicants must already be in the process of attaining a graduate degree at Binghamton University to be eligible for the program.
If you have an interest in Evolutionary studies and are seeking an environment that fosters new ways of interdisciplinary thinking, then the EvoS program at Binghamton University may be right for you. BU is home to the first EvoS program in the country, and has served as a model for programs at over 40 other institutions in the United States. In addition to coursework, our 16-credit certificate program features a public seminar series that highlights innovative applications of evolutionary theory in traditional and non-traditional settings. Our program seeks to advance understanding of the theory of evolution and its impact on other fields, including psychology and other human sciences, and the humanities. As a member of the EvoS program you can benefit from a stimulating intellectual atmosphere, opportunities to participate in community-wide research projects, and positions as classroom instructors. In addition, a certificate in Evolutionary Studies can enhance graduate credentials in disciplines spanning biology to engineering to economics.
