Program Description:

An intimate program, Adelphi’s Master of Fine Arts in Creative Writing offers unique hands-on experiences to meet with writers, agents, editors and arts administrators to learn firsthand about the professional life of a writer. M.F.A. students will also learn the practical procedures of submitting a manuscript and applying for grants and jobs.

Our distinctive curriculum offers our students a unique opportunity to explore writing across three genres—poetry, fiction, and nonfiction. Our active engagement with the New York and national literary scenes—including partnership with organizations such as PEN and Cave Canem as well as free membership for all students in the Association of Writers and Writing Programs—ensures you will have a rich experience of literary citizenship in addition to excellent, intimate workshops and mentoring. Through Twitter, Tumbler, and our sponsorship of Village of Crickets online, we provide in-depth experience for our students of today’s the vibrant online literary culture.
