Rutgers University of New Jersey

Master of Social Work, Intensive Weekend

Program Information

Degrees Offered:

Master of Social Work, Intensive Weekend

Format: Campus

Program Description:

Rutgers School of Social Work’s Intensive Weekend MSW program is designed to enable students employed in the social service and other human service related fields to pursue their MSW while continuing to work full-time. Students can expect to complete their MSW education in 3 years. Students who possess an undergraduate degree in social work from an accredited baccalaureate program in social work can be considered for advanced standing admission and complete their degree in approximately 2 years.  Both advanced standing and 3-year students begin  the program in the fall.

The Intensive Weekend program offers a course of study that is year round and manageable for working students, with a course and field schedule that integrates well with busy professional and personal lives.  Students take classes with a cohort of students and develop a network of support and professional relationships that follows them into their future careers.  The opportunity to share professional experiences and process how what they learn in the classroom might apply in their particular field of practice is an essential part of the experience.
