Program Description:

The M.S. in Mathematical Finance is a 30-credit program that prepares students for careers in investment banks, hedge funds, asset management companies, financial software and data companies, and insurance companies, with roles in financial modeling and software development, model, market, credit, and operational risk management, asset valuation, trading desk support, trading, and portfolio management.

The program’s location close to New York and financial centers in New Jersey facilitates the process of interviewing for summer internships and long-term placement. Courses are taught by academic faculty and quantitative finance practitioners. The research expertise of the Mathematical Finance faculty includes financial modeling, numerical analysis, partial differential equations, probability theory, stochastic processes, and statistical analysis. The program is shaped by the practical experience of the faculty at quantitative finance research groups at leading investment banks and hedge funds and by their contacts with the financial industry. Admission is competitive, with a limited number of applicants admitted each year.
