Program Information

Degrees Offered:

Master of Science in Software Engineering

Format: Hybrid

Program Description:

Monmouth University pioneered graduate education for software developers in the mid-1980's and launched the first Software Engineering Department in 1995. Our curriculum integrates applied computer science, applied mathematics, and management science into engineering design for software. Our students and alumni are among the most sought after in the world.

The Master of Science in Software Engineering is a 30-40.5-credit program (depending on academic background) that combines a mastery of the foundations of the discipline and advanced studies under faculty members who are recognized experts in the field. Students learn how to be effective members of a software development team with a sure grasp of the latest methods, tools, and techniques for delivering software on time and within budget. Graduates will acquire the ability to design software that solves practical problems, and to manage software projects to decrease risk while increasing quality.

Students benefit from small classes taught by full-time senior faculty members who are recognized experts in their field, augmented by adjunct faculty members affiliated with nearby high-technology firms including AT&T, Bell Labs, Lucent, and MITRE. This combination of first-rate scholarship and up-to-the-minute industry experience is typical of Monmouth's focus on each student's situation and goals. It immerses students in the real-world practice of software engineering while the University is still on hand to guide them.
