Program Description:

Whether you are a student who recently earned a bachelor's degree or someone seeking a career change, the Master of Arts in Teaching (MAT) is your vehicle to becoming a fully certified educator. The latest in education theory, technology, teaching strategies, and significant field-based experiences form the cornerstones of the MAT program.

Program Highlights:

Teacher preparation program includes a full year of clinical experience. Early field experience provides opportunities to:

  • Visit schools and classrooms
  • Observe students and teacher

Teach individual, small or large groups of students under the direction of a master teacher
Available programs include certification in:

  • Early Childhood (P-3) and Elementary Education (K-6)
  • Elementary Education (K-6)
  • Elementary Education (K-6) and Middle School Specialization (5-8)
  • Secondary Subject-Specific in English, mathematics, science, social studies (9-12)
  • Kindergarten through twelfth grade in art, Chinese, health and physical education, music, and Spanish (K-12)

Endorsements may be added to any of the initial programs in:

  • English as a Second Language (ESL)
  • Teacher of Students with Disabilities (TSD)
