Respond Successfully to the Varied Literacy Needs of All Students Connect reading and writing across the curriculum, and obtain a foundation in literacy learning across populations and content areas in this Master of Education (M.Ed.) in Curriculum and Instruction with a Specialization in Literacy: Language, Reading, and Writing program. As you gain confidence in responding to the varied literacy needs of your students, you will also learn to collaborate with and lead colleagues to engage in cutting edge literacy practices and innovations. Courses include the following topics: Word Study: Phonics, Spelling, and Vocabulary Nonfiction Literature Content Area Literacies Struggling Readers and Writers First and Second Language Acquisition Curriculum, Assessment, and Instruction Program ends with an action research project and seminar, in which you design research that can have a direct impact on your school community Expand your understanding of literacy instruction and methods and connect assessment and instruction to guide student learning.
