Learn from Faculty Who Love to Teach
Our faculty are committed, first and foremost, to creating great learning opportunities. Student-centered experiential learning is an important part of our curriculum identity. You’ll find our faculty working along-side students in the field and in the classroom, digging soil pits, mapping forest composition, tracking wildlife, writing regulatory policies, developing advocacy campaigns, and teaching.

Choose a Professional Science Master’s Option
Environmental Studies - Professional Science Master's Help meet the demand for leaders in science- and math-related fields by earning a master’s degree recognized as a Professional Science Master’s. The Environmental Studies Master’s of Science (ESMS) Program has been approved for recognition as a Professional Science Master’s (PSM) by the Council of Graduate Schools. Environmental Studies Masters students can choose to follow either the PSM track of studies or the non-PSM track of studies. The PSM is only available to Master’s students.
Build Your Résumé and Career Networks
Join a department of 250-300 Environmental Studies graduate students and you’ll find networking is the norm. Connect theory with practice and develop even more networks by fulfilling your environmental career dreams through internships, a masters thesis, a masters project, a collaborative service initiative, or at the doctoral level a service learning experience and your doctoral research. Create and install a loon-nesting platform, research the spread of an invasive species, teach ecology at a residential learning center, meet with stakeholders on the siting of a new mall, help town managers prepare for the impacts of climate change, or student teach in middle and high school life and environmental science classes. You imagine the possibilities, and we’ll do everything we can to support you.
