Child and Family Studies - Early Childhood Special Education (M.S., Certificate, Licensure)
The Early Childhood Special Education graduate certificate program gives you a good overview of early childhood special education — its history, philosophies behind the profession and legal requirements. You will learn about child development, methods for teaching young children with disabilities and screening and assessing young children. Your studies will also look at family structure and its impact on child development. You will learn skills in early intervention and early childhood special education. You will end with a supervised student teaching opportunity.
Courses are available that complete the required education required for licensure in Early Childhood Special Education in Minnesota. Completion of the certificate and license often leads to completion of the master's degree in Early Childhood Special Education.
After you receive entrance to the certificate or licensure track, your previous coursework will be reviewed to determine which licensure requirements you may have already met.
