Program Description:

The Master in Social Work program prepares advanced social work practitioners for agency-based practice in public and nonprofit settings. Our highly respected program focuses on client strengths and empowerment. It emphasizes problem solving within a holistic, systems framework and practices that are informed by solid research and evaluation. Our eclectic and diverse urban surroundings provide a variety of community partnerships that expose students to a wide range of cultural traditions and global world views. Courses are conveniently offered on an alternating weekend intensive format and practicum sites are located in both urban and rural settings. Students choose a concentration in either Multicultural Clinical Practice or Multicultural Macro Practice.


Augsburg College is accredited by the Higher Learning Commission of the North Central Association of Colleges and Schools. The M. A. in Social Work program is accredited by the Council on Social Work Education (CSWE).
