University of Michigan
Rackham School of Graduate Studies
Our 5-year Ph.D. program boasts 27 faculty members whose interests cut across the area divisions typically found within a Romance Languages Department, and which include particular strengths in cultural and interdisciplinary studies and in medieval and early modern studies. These interests, which also span traditional and contemporary areas of specialization; a high degree of student responsibility in shaping individual course of study; regular, critical and open contact with department faculty; along with Ann Arbor's rich cultural environment all combine to offer students a stimulating and uniquely challenging graduate school experience.
