M.S. - Computer Systems Engineering
Computer Systems Engineering is offered by the College of Engineering is housed in the Department of Mechanical, Industrial, and Manufacturing Engineering. Courses will be in both the Department of Electrical and Computer Engineering and the College of Computer Science. Concentrations are offered in Computer-Aided Design/Computer-Aided Manufacturing (CAD/CAM) and in Engineering Software Design (ESD).
The CAD/CAM program is designed to provide a good blend of mechanical and industrial engineering knowledge with CAD/CAM and computer science knowledge. Students enrolled in this program gain a broad background that qualify them for jobs in the high-tech sector and software programming.
The Engineering Software Design Concentration (within the Masters in Computer Systems Engineering Degree) is designed for students with a bachelor's degree in engineering, computer science or the physical sciences. The concentration focuses on software engineering as it relates to object-oriented design and analysis, the construction and use of software components, and the development of server-side enterprise software systems. All students are required to do a Software Engineering Project or a Master's Thesis.
Students may choose to pursue a Ph.D. in a related field after completion of the Master's degree.
