Master of Science in Clinical Mental Health Counseling
The Master of Science in Clinical Mental Health Counseling prepares candidates to meet the growing demand for mental health counselors who work in a variety of settings, including counseling centers, hospitals, non-profits, and private practices.
Degree candidates will acquire the skills, insights, and hands-on experience they need to successfully work with clients facing addiction, depression, anxiety, trauma, and other mental health challenges. Our MS in Clinical Mental Health Counseling program is informed by the ideals of social justice. Our graduates are trained to empower their clients using a strength-based, relational model that is trauma-informed. Through interactive coursework, students will study a range of counseling and research methods, and develop clinical skills for accessing and improving overall mental health and wellbeing.
Upon completion of our program, students will emerge as compassionate, culturally-aware counselors prepared to make a difference in their clients’ lives.
The program is designed to meet the highest standards of the national counseling accreditation councils and the Massachusetts licensing board for Licensed Mental Health Counselors. See how our program meets the state licensing requirements.
This graduate program provides students with the opportunity to positively impact people’s lives. The need for professionals in this area has never been greater. An increasing population, coupled with greater demand for mental health care, is fueling the need for qualified mental health counselors.
Courses are offered in the evenings to accommodate students who work or intern during the day.
Students can complete the program in two years, full-time or may choose a part-time program to complete the degree in three years. This program is designed with both recent college graduates and experienced practitioners in mind.
Applicants must have a Bachelor of Arts or a Bachelor of Science degree and must submit the following as part of the application process.
