Convenient Learning at Lasell College

Lasell College offers 100% online courses and hybrid courses which are both online and on campus. With Lasell’s flexible options, it may be simpler to balance career, school and daily life. Aside from campus programs, there are a variety of convenient graduate degrees and graduate certificates that match well with the busy schedule of at-work students.

Online Program Model

At Lasell, the online courses run in 8-week sessions and are accelerated. The fast pace requires students to be engaged on a daily basis. Online learners at Lasell have 24/7 web access through Canvas, which allows them to log into their courses when they are able. Whether this is early in the morning, late at night, or on the weekends, the program model is flexible, as long as participants meet assignment deadlines. To get started, a self-paced online tutorial brings students up to speed with personalized dashboard, collaborative tools, and other features. Plus, online education at Lasell also includes access to a 24/7 Technology help desk, other online orientations, how-to videos, events, and student support services that are also available through the online portal.

Mission, Vision and Values

Central to Lasell College’s mission is to factor in adult-learner needs to make graduate education more accessible via campus, hybrid and online programs. The university also maintains a “student-first” philosophy which they explain to mean an intentional program cap to maintain small class sizes and a highly collaborative and “personalized” learning experiences.

    Admissions

    Candidates who seek admission to Lasell’s graduate degree or certificate programs must hold a bachelor’s degree from an accredited institution with a recommended 3.0 average for recent college grads. Individual programs may also entail specific prerequisites though the GRE/GMAT scores are not typically required. Along with transcripts, applicants may need to include other material. For instance, letters of recommendation, a resume, and a one-page personal statement that sets out personal goals, strengths and potential for achievement in graduate school.

Academics and Degrees at Laselle College

With a heavy emphasis on Masters degrees, Lasell College offers a wide array of concentrations in some programs which may enable students to custom tailor their degree plan. Certificates, which could provide an alternative to a full degree, might prepare students with supplemental credentials, knowhow, and ability. These are also available in multiple disciplines.

Program Highlights: Online MBA

Lasell offers a 100% online Master of Business Administration (MBA) program. The program’s coursework covers a wide range of topics such as organizational development, leadership, quantitative analysis, finance, and strategy. The 36 -credit program is offered with a rolling admission for September, October, January, March, May and July start dates. Students may be able to complete their program in from 12-24 months. GRE/GMAT scores are not required for admission.

Program Highlights: Online MS in Sport Management

At Lasell, students could earn a Master of Science in Sport Management online. The MS program has some of the same administrative and managerial content as a traditional MBA but aims to help students build insight into issues related to sports. As such, coursework may address everything from operations and finance to media relations and service that factors in an increasingly global set of stakeholders and fans. This 36-credit program includes 24 credits in the core program content, 9 credits of emphasis-specific courses and a 3-credit capstone. Per the school, all classes are capped at 23 students and participants might complete their program in from 12-24 months. Individuals could personalize their program through one of several concentrations.
  • Sport Leadership: A focus on the operational and financial aspects of a sports franchise or organizations. Other topics could discuss media relations, law and fundraising
  • Sport Tourism and Hospitality Management: Highlights courses in sales strategies, international sport management, the management of facilities and special events
  • Parks and Recreation: Melds managerial content with courses that take a case studies approach to trends in community recreation and park management
  • Athletic Administration: With a focus on the major themes in sport, program participants might study topics such as organizational theory, human resources, budgeting, health and safety and operations

Program Highlights: Online MS in Criminal Justice

At Lasell, students could focus a Master of Science in Criminal Justice around professional goals. Conveniently offered online, participants could study to enhance their ability to think critically, investigate scrupulously, communicate and reason well. This MS in Criminal Justice program also adheres to standards developed by the Academy of Criminal Justice Sciences (ACJS) and the Police Career Incentive Pay Program (Quinn Bill) in Massachusetts. It is formatted to include 36 credits of coursework, 21 credits in the core program curriculum, 9 credits of concentration-specific courses, 6 credits of electives and a capstone project. In core courses, students could examine criminal behavior through readings from disciplines such as political science, sociology, and psychology as they pertain to crime, social deviance, and causation. They may also be exposed to various research methods, modes of statistical analysis and modes of observation. In other compulsory content, participants might discuss the criminal justice system, and process. Major components might include crime, law, criminology, law enforcement, adjudication by the courts, corrections, juvenile justice, and current issues and policies. Interesting electives might draw on subjects such as victimology and conflict resolution. Beyond the core, Lasell’s Criminal Justice graduate degree program offers three concentrations.
  • Emergency and Crisis Management: Students could develop the ability to resolve conflict and mitigate hazards. Coursework might prepare graduates with the key skills needed to plan and respond to natural disasters, threats against public safety, and unexpected events of all types
  • Homeland Security and Global Justice: This emphasis focuses on federal law enforcement practices and international justice policy. Coursework could delve into issues like terrorism, transnational crime and cybercrime. Violence Prevention and Advocacy: Might equip students to address abuse and violence. Specific types of interpersonal violence covered could include child abuse and neglect, child sexual violence, spousal abuse, elder abuse, date rape and other forms of intimate sexual and physical violence. Participants might learn about social change and how to advocate for different causes
  • Criminal Justice – Self Designed: Students could select any elective within the department of Criminal Justice or attain approval to take courses that interest them in other departments
