Program Description:

The M. Ed. in Secondary Education prepares teacher candidates with a strong background in any content area to work in middle and high school classrooms throughout Massachusetts. During the program of study, you will develop an in-depth understanding of evidence-based practice in secondary education. Utilizing the Massachusetts Curriculum Frameworks as a guide, you will gain experience with curriculum development and modification to support all learners in your classes. You will also participate in extensive field experiences throughout the program to gain experience implementing research-based best practices that help prepare your students for college and careers.

Upon graduation, you will be eligible to earn an initial license from the Massachusetts Department of Elementary and Secondary Education in Grades 5-8 or 8-12 in one of the approved subject areas: english, history, political science/philosophy, humanities, biology, chemistry, earth science, physics, general science, and math/science.
