Designed to prepare students to work in agencies, media companies, and other marketing communication organizations, the Master's Program in Advertising in the Boston University College of Communication brings together top advertising executives and renowned professors under one roof. The program culminates in an intensive, real-world experience - AdLab - the country's largest student run advertising agency. Students work with real clients and take on intensive challenges to fully experience the rigor of the advertising industry.
All students take courses that provide a broad understanding of the advertising industry and of the role of communication in contemporary society. Additionally, they will focus on developing advertising campaigns and research skills through hands-on courses in interactive marketing, strategic creative development, consumer insight and account planning, art direction, advertising management, and others. Students may also choose to pursue a thesis track for doctoral study or careers in marketing research or education. A unique opportunity of the Advertising program is a 16-credit summer internship program in London.
The Advertising program is appropriate for students who have earned their undergraduate degrees in fields other than communication, but those with a relevant background will also benefit from the opportunity to further master their advertising skills. Full-time students can expect to finish the degree in the three semesters.
Boston University is accredited through the New England Association of Schools and Colleges, Inc., one of six nationally recognized accrediting agencies.
In addition to the application requirements, international students must submit a TOEFL or IELTS exam (minimum score of 100 or 7.0) and an international student video.
