M.P.H. - Community Health Education;, Ph.D.- Public and Community Health
The Department of Health Education at the University of Maryland College Park offers graduate programs leading to an MPH in Community Health and a Ph.D. in Public and Community Health. The MPH program is designed to promote the development of professional community health educators who understand the science, theory and practice of public health and can apply this knowledge toward the enhancement of health status in communities. The Ph.D. is a research degree with a focus on advanced health behavior and environmental theory, research, program planning and evaluation. The health strengths and needs of populations are examined, and theory based interventions are developed and evaluated at the individual through societal levels. Students also have an opportunity to do advanced research in a variety of individualized areas.
