Program Description:

The Post-Master’s Certificate in Applied Behavior Analysis (ABA), designed for special educators, administrators and school counselors, will offer specific coursework and training in the field of applied behavior analysis. Educators who receive preparation in the evidence-based practice of ABA will be prepared to meet the needs of a growing population of students requiring special education services. Additionally, the ABA certificate will support the career goals of special education teachers and other school personnel who desire this specialized training.

Note: Johns Hopkins is the only school of education in Maryland to offer this specialized certificate.

The program has rolling admissions. Priority consideration submission date is April 1st.

Degree Requirements

  • Applicants must possess a minimum of a graduate degree (e.g., master’s or doctoral) in an acceptable field of study–behavior analysis, education or psychology–from an acceptable accredited institution. Please see the BACB website for more information regarding acceptable fields of study and accredited institutions. Candidates are encouraged to complete a degree preliminary review through the BACB to determine if their master’s degree meets the BCBA requirements (located at the bottom of the page).
  • Minimum 3.0 cumulative GPA.
  • ​No other certification or licensure (e.g. teacher certification) would be required for acceptance into the program.

The Behavior Analyst Certification Board (BACB), Inc.® has verified the course sequence as meeting the requirements for eligibility to take the Board Certified Behavior Analyst (BCBA) Examination.® Please note that candidates will have to meet additional requirements in order to qualify for BCBA certification.

Coursework

The Post-Master’s Certificate in Applied Behavior Analysis (ABA) requires a total of 24 credits of graduate-level instruction (6 courses and 2 practica) that directly align with the Behavior Analyst Certification Board requirements.
