Doctor of Philosophy in Applied Language and Speech Sciences, Master of Science in Speech - Language Pathology
The doctoral program is designed to produce research professors for colleges and universities and/or researchers for schools, clinics, and hospitals. The program studies communication processes, language use and acquisition, communication disorders, and related areas. Applicants will normally hold the M.S. in Speech-Language Pathology and the CCC-SLP, but individuals with master's degrees in related areas and exceptional students with bachelor's degrees are welcomed.
The master's (MS) education program in speech-language pathology at the University of Louisiana at Lafayette is accredited by the Council on Academic Accreditation in Audiology and Speech-Language Pathology of the American Speech-Language-Hearing Association, 2200 Research Boulevard #310, Rockville, Maryland 20850, 800-498-2071 or 301-296-5700. It is a program of study that combines intensive clinical practice with academic work. After successfully completing the program one will have met the academic requirements for the ASHA Certificate of Clinical Competence in Speech-Language Pathology (CCC-SLP). The Clinic, well-known for its successful summer literacy project, recently received recognition from the Louisiana Scottish Rite Foundation, Inc., in the form of clinic funding and annual scholarships.
