Program Description:
The University of Kentucky?s Graduate Center for Nutritional Sciences is an interdisciplinary program that provides high-quality educational training and research experience leading to M.S. and Ph.D. degrees. Students have access to faculty expertise across 28 departments and divisions at the University?s colleges of Medicine, Health Sciences and Agriculture, preparing them for a variety of careers in academia, industry and government. The program includes didactic course offerings in biochemistry, physiology, macronutrient and micronutrient metabolism, and nutrition and chronic disease. Electives are offered with a research emphasis in molecular metabolism, clinical nutrition, and behavioral aspects related to nutrition.. Excellent research opportunities exist in areas of molecular metabolism with a focus on obesity and associated diseases, including diabetes and cardiovascular disease, at the basic and clinical levels, as well as agricultural aspects of nutrition.
