M.S. in Safety, Security & Emergency Management - Fire & Emergency Services
The Fire & Emergency Services Concentration is designed to build graduate-level knowledge on top of the experience-based skills of professional fire, rescue and emergency response personnel. The curriculum of the Fire & Emergency Services concentration focuses on current issues that affect first response organizations and their strategic operations. Courses in this concentration include strategic planning, leadership, financial administration and public emergency services. The dynamic fields of first response management, fire engineering and rescue operations, require assertive leaders who can see beyond a situation. This concentration fortifies the leadership aptitude of fire and emergency service professionals, preparing them for management level responsibilities. All students in the Master of Science in Safety, Security & Emergency Management online degree program will take 6 core courses during their first year. These courses will focus on various topics such as safety, security and emergency management administration, legislation and legal compliance, workers' compensation/labor law, emergency preparation and response, and auditing. The second year will include support courses on industrial safety management, security management, environmental hazards, risk management and specific concentration courses of the student's choice.
