Journalism / Mass Communications
The School of Journalism and Mass Communication offers two graduate degrees: the M.A. degree in journalism and the Ph.D. degree in mass communication. In the M.A. program, students may select from two emphases: Professional Journalism or Mass Communication. The Ph.D. degree, first conferred in 1948 and the first such degree in mass communication to be awarded in this country, is interdisciplinary and highly individualized.
