Program Description:

The major in Education with specialization in Adult and Extension Education prepares people for positions in a wide array of organizational settings where the focus is working with adults in an educational context. Examples include training and development positions in business and industry; subject matter specialists,field specialists and state leaders in the Cooperative Extension Service; private consultants for various public and private organizations; public school adult education and community education directors and coordinators; continuing education directors and coordinators for a variety of professions; adult religious education programmers, coordinators and teachers; and vocational education directors and teachers. Some positions are administrative in nature (i.e., Dean of Continuing Education in a four year college or university), some positions are trainers, others are teachers, and some are supervisors of an adult education enterprise (e.g., community and adult education programs in public schools).
