The Department of Chemistry at Ball State University is seeking applicants for graduate study in Chemistry. We offer Master of Science (M.S.) and Master of Arts degrees (M.A.) in Chemistry. The department has a vibrant and a supportive research environment that encompasses a wide range of topics, including but not limited to, Environmental Chemistry, Organic/Inorganic Synthesis, Computational Chemistry, Materials Science, and Bio-nanotechnology. Many of our faculty members are affiliated with the Environmental Sciences Program, which offers a PhD degree. The Chemistry Department offers Teaching Assistantship. Multiple Research Assistantships are also available.

BSU Chemistry is ranked by the American Chemical Society (ACS) as one of the largest producers of ACS-accredited chemistry majors in the state of Indiana. We also rank in the top 10 percent in the nation in the number of graduating ACS-accredited chemistry majors. Our graduate students have an excellent post-graduate track record of pursuing a doctoral degree or joining the workforce. This two-year master’s degree program, for which assistantship is available, is a wonderful opportunity for students to gain critical advanced chemistry skills and hands-on research training. This program often serves as a stepping stone for students who wish to choose either industry or academia as their career choice.
