Master of Arts in Special Education: Learning Behavior Specialist I

Format: Campus

Program Description:

The Master of Arts in Special Education program at Trinity Christian College provides the opportunity for licensed teachers to expand their classroom opportunities by adding the Learning Behavior Specialist I (LBS I) endorsement to their license. The program will give you the skills needed to work with children with special needs and help meet the growing demands of districts.

Through the program, you will further develop and extend a Christian perspective on the nature of educating students with special needs, and increase your ability to critically analyze theories, methodologies, and issues, particularly as they relate to teaching students with disabilities. You will also develop and complete an independent research thesis.

Classes are held two nights a week. The first night meets on Trinity’s campus in Palos Heights from 6-9 pm, with the second night fully online. The program can be completed in one-and-a-half years if you take 9 credits in each the fall, spring, summer, and fall semesters. Those who complete the entire 36-credit hours and its requirement will earn a Master of Arts in Special Education, with LBS I certification, provided all Illinois state tests are passed.
