Program Description:

Trinity Christian College’s Master of Arts in Counseling Psychology program offers rigorous academic and professional training in counseling that combines theory, empirical research, and practical experience. Grounded in a Christian perspective, the program teaches about the integration of Christian faith and counseling practice and seeks to address the spiritual core of human life as responsive to God. The program welcomes students of all faith traditions and emphasizes the formation of the whole person in the training of each student answering God’s call to bring healing and restoration.

Through the program, you will develop the skills to counsel in a variety of settings and learn:

  • Competence in counseling techniques
  • Research techniques and applications
  • Ethical counseling practices
  • Problem-solving and decision-making skills
  • Leadership skills

The curriculum is designed to meet the educational requirements to test to become a Licensed Professional Counselor (LPC) in the state of Illinois, including the 700 hours of practicum internship experience. The practicum is completed over 2 semesters (which can be completed while working full-time) and includes supervision at the intern site, as well as classroom instruction and on-campus supervision.
