Program Description:

Our Master of Arts in Education offers a variety of opportunities to advance your education career. Our faculty have been educating Chicago-area teachers and administrators for decades, so they know exactly what you need to succeed. Classes are small, so faculty get to know you and design teaching experiences that are personalized to your needs.

Students must be a current licensed teacher to apply. Whether you are expanding your knowledge to advance your career as a teacher or striving for a principal or administrative position, we offer two unique curriculum tracks with endorsements that will help you meet your goals.

Education Concentrations

You'll build both a proficiency in your content area and an understanding of your particular teaching environment. Both Education concentrations give you the flexibility to keep your job while earning your degree. Classes meet one night a week.

  • Curriculum and Instruction (C&I): Maximize your potential as a classroom teacher. Students can complete the 33 credit hour degree with one of the following endorsements, or complete course work for the endorsement only:
    • Teacher Leader Endorsement
    • Learning Behavior Specialist I (LBS1) Endorsement
    • English Language Learner (ELL) Endorsement
  • Educational Leadership: Advance your career to become an assistant principal or principal. Students complete the 36 credit hour degree with the following endorsement:
    • Principal Endorsement

Education Alliance Partnership

Through the Education Alliance Grant, eligible employees with an earned bachelor's degree will receive a 20% tuition discount on any graduate program offered by North Central College. For the Master of Arts in Education degree, you can save $3900-$4300 in tuition!
