Professional Educator License: School Social Worker Endorsement

This program is for those who have an MSW degree from an accredited school of social work and who are seeking a Professional Educator License with an endorsement in School Social Work. (previously Type 73
certification) 

Students who complete this program will be eligible for their licensure as a School Social Worker in Illinois.

PROGRAM STRUCTURE
• The degree offers part-time enrollment
Average time to completion (part time): 1 year

The program requires a minimum of four courses, including an online integrated seminar and a supervised placement in an approved traditional Illinois public school.

PREREQUISITES
An MSW degree is required for admission. PEL entitlement is based on the requirements of the Illinois State Board of Education. (may include basic skills testing, content exam completion, etc.)

EXTERNSHIPS
You will complete a supervised externship in an approved traditional Illinois public school for a minimum of 600 hours, following the school district’s academic calendar.
