M.Ed., Reading Teacher Endorsement
Reading is the skill that unlocks success; literacy is essential to higher education and career advancement. If you teach a student to read well, you're helping them succeed in every other area, too. Educators who excel in teaching reading are necessary to the health of our school system.
If you would like to expand your professional credentials and earn certification as a reading teacher, consider Lewis University's M.Ed. in Curriculum and Instruction for Reading Teacher Endorsement.
Inspired by our dedication to "Creating Learning Communities," Lewis' College of Education works to prepare teachers with the knowledge and skills to make a positive impact in their communities. Our goal is to provide you with the training you need to be more effective in the classroom. You will be empowered to share your knowledge and values, while encouraging the talent and diversity of your students.
As a student in the M.Ed. Curriculum and Instruction, you will complete 30 semester credit hours, exploring topics such as:
•Instructional methods for different age groups
•Integrating technology into the classroom
•Diagnosing and working with reading problems
At the conclusion of the program, you must pass the Illinois Certification Test for the Reading Teacher. You will then receive your Reading Teacher Endorsement.
All teacher education programs are approved for entitlement by the Illinois State Board of Education in conjunction with the Illinois State Teacher Certification Board. In addition, the College of Education has earned NCATE (National Council for Accreditation of Teacher Education) accreditation.
