Degrees Offered:

Project Management, Project Management

Format: Campus

Program Description:

Learn to deliver projects on time, on budget and most importantly, to specification. In an ever-changing business world, project management has become an increasingly important aspect of organizational growth. Project managers oversee all aspects of a given project within an organization. But to be an effective project manager, you must embody a specific set of core competencies including project planning, risk management, cost and time management, decision making, human resources and finance—to name a few. Elmhurst’s master of project management program (MPM) is designed to prepare individuals to apply the necessary knowledge and skills to lead and manage complex projects in a wide range of fields and occupations. Our curriculum focuses on the entire process of project management, from initiating, planning, executing, monitoring and controlling, to closing a project. This part-time, hybrid program combines on-campus and online learning and can be completed in as little as two years. Designed for professionals with some training in general management or a related field, the program is ideal for those who seek to become a project manager or who wish to expand their managerial skill sets. At Elmhurst, you’ll learn to demonstrate and apply practical and theoretical project management skills to a wide variety of projects. You’ll identify the basic tools of project management to include project plans, Gantt charts and other tools and techniques applied in the project management process. And you’ll be able to evaluate critical success factors for effectiveness in achieving project objectives and translate the financial aspects of a corporation into the project management process. Elmhurst also offers a graduate certificate in project management for students who currently do not want to complete a full master’s program. Elmhurst’s project management program satisfies the Project Management Institute’s (PMI) educational requirement necessary to be eligible to take the PMP exam. An optional PMP review course is available to graduates of the program free of charge.

The Commission on Institutions of Higher Education of the North Central Association accredits all graduate programs at Elmhurst College.
