Master of Science in Nursing
In today’s nursing profession, clinical leadership is in high demand. In our master’s program, you will build on your baccalaureate degree in nursing to develop knowledge and skills to meet the challenges of the current and emerging health care system. We also have an RN-MSN option designed for registered nurses with baccalaureate degrees outside of nursing.
This program is designed to prepare professional nurses for clinical leadership. You will have the opportunity to select a role concentration as a clinical nurse leader, nurse educator or nurse administrator. Theoretical and practical skills will be emphasized—you will attain cutting-edge knowledge and master key skills to enhance your clinical practice and promote optimal outcomes for individuals and populations.
Coursework evaluates the effectiveness of various interventions and also explores current issues in professional nursing. Interdisciplinary practice also is an emphasis. You will work closely with faculty in small, highly interactive classes. The program is designed to foster mentoring relationships with faculty and strong learning partnerships with fellow students.
In this 33-credit-hour program, most courses meet on weekday evenings and are offered in intensive eight-week blocks. Students may complete the program in two years or adopt a slower pace.
Graduates of Elmhurst College’s MSN program are eligible to apply for the MBA Option, a one-year program that leads to the Master of Business Administration with a specialization in health care leadership.
