Program Description:

Columbia College Chicago’s Dance/Movement Therapy & Counseling, MA program is geared toward those with a passion for dance and expressive movement, and who also have an interest in mental health and psychology. This interweaving of the two disciplines has resulted in one of only six programs nationally approved by the American Dance Therapy Association. Candidates of the Dance/Movement Therapy & Counseling, MA program will: • Be part of one of six programs nationally approved by the American Dance Therapy Association • Have the opportunity to become a Registered Dance/Movement Therapist and may be eiligible to sit for the Illinois State Licensing Exam to become a Licensed Professional Counselor • Gain the full clinical experience through fieldwork and internships in which they get to observe working professionals, interact with real patients, and begin to apply approaches, methods and techniques of treatment • Work towards completing an independent thesis project that demonstrates the ability to creatively integrate theory, existing professional literature, and research methods learned in the classroom
