Program Description:

Our Master of Arts in Counseling: Art Therapy program prepares counselors to use the creative process to improve individuals’ physical, mental, and emotional wellbeing. We offer one of the country’s largest and best known degrees in art therapy, training graduates to teach coping skills through art to people facing trauma, stress, and other struggles.

Our innovative program is approved by the American Art Therapy Association (AATA) and designed to meet the standards of the Higher Learning Commission. Our rigorous curriculum focuses on art-making and
counseling methodologies to foster personal growth and learn to face life’s challenges.

We offer an immersive learning experience that brings together real-world training with a focus on socially responsible practice—all led by experts in the field. Students learn to set therapeutic objectives and serve clients through a thoughtful selection of artistic materials and interventions. Our program is designed to be completed in two years of full-time study.When you enroll, you join a cohort or group of students who will take classes together throughout the course of the program. This cohort model
emphasizes collaboration, communication, connection, and camaraderie among students.
