We have national accreditation with the Commission on Accreditation of Athletic Training Education (CAATE). Upon completion of this program, students will be eligible to sit for the national Board of Certification (BOC) exam and pursue a career as a Certified Athletic Trainer (ATC). Duties of an ATC include: prevention, assessment, care and rehabilitation of injuries, as well as administration, education and counseling. ATCs are employed in traditional athletic settings (high schools, colleges, professional sports) and other health care settings (sports medicine clinics, hospitals, chiropractor's office, doctor's office, health centers, corporations). Marietta is located about 16 miles northwest from downtown Atlanta.
During the clinical education component of the MAT program, students are assigned a variety of sports, clinical preceptors clinical sites and patient populations. In these experiences, students can apply, practice and review the skills they learn in their academic classes. Students are required to complete a minimum of 15 hours/week (i.e., 150 hours per 10-week quarter term), for a minimum of 1,200 hours over a two year period.
