Graduate Certificate in Public Health, PhD-Doctor of Philosophy in Public Health, MPH-Master of Public Health
The School of Public Health, in keeping with its mission of advancing health through leadership, scholarship, research and service, offers a fully accredited Master of Public Health (MPH) degree. MPH degree requires the completion of 42-credit hours and a declared concentration in one of five (5) public health concentrations:
• Environmental Health
• Health Promotion and Behavior
• Health Management and Policy
The Master of Public Health degree program consists of both Public Health courses and a complementary selection of courses taught by a wide array of Georgia State University faculty. The program is taught on-site in Georgia State University classrooms where instructors utilize the most current educational technologies as well as use distance learning technologies to complement the in-class experience.
The purpose of the PhD program in the School of Public Health is to educate the next generation of prevention scientists conducting public health research in academia, governmental public health, health care organizations and the private sector. A graduate with the Doctor of Philosophy in Public Health will contribute to new knowledge, to a better understanding of health disparities, to the amelioration of critical health problems, and to the development of new interventions to promote health.
The Graduate Certificate in Public Health (GCPH) is a 15-credit hour program of study. The content is the same as the core courses taught in the Master of Public Health degree program. All courses have been specially designed and developed for students currently working in public health or in a related field.
The programs in the School of Public Health are accredited by the Council on Education of Public Health.
