The vision of this Sports Nutrition Emphasis is to be identified as the first graduate program with an emphasis in sports nutrition at a regionally accredited university in Georgia. The emphasis of this model program will assist graduate students to develop the theoretical knowledge and abilities to become more knowledgeable in sports nutrition.
This graduate program will foster each student to think critically, create an ethical philosophy to performance enhancement, and gain knowledge in sports nutrition from a multidisciplinary approach.
The Master's in Kinesiology with a Sports Nutrition emphasis is designed to strengthen an individual’s knowledge in nutrition and physical activity. This specific degree would benefit individuals that are planning to work in a wellness program or facility, coach any level or type of sport, or personal train. Although this degree would not allow individuals to counsel their clients one-on-one on specific nutrition education/meal plans, it would allow them to advise the athlete or exerciser on healthier food choices that would enhance performance.
The Sports Nutrition Program Faculty will support the following goals:
1. Gain National recognition as a graduate program with an emphasis in Sports Nutrition known for its quality instruction and applied experiences.
2. Faculty and students will develop relationships with a broad range of diverse populations with evidence of strong professional ethics.
3. Provide students with rich, multidisciplinary experiences.
