M.Ed. Teaching and Learning
The Department of Teaching and Learning offers the Master of Education (M.Ed.) in Teaching and Learning with concentration options in five different areas. A student selects a concentration based on his/her educational background and career goals. Each concentration requires completion of a 36 hour program of study.
Concentration One: Middle Grades Education (4-8) for candidates who hold a Professional Level Four Certificate or equivalent in Middle Grades Education.
Concentration Two: Secondary Education (6-12) for candidates who hold a Professional Level Four Certificate or equivalent in one of the following certification areas: biology, business education, chemistry, economics, English, geography, geology, history, mathematics, physics, political science, social science, science.
Concentration Three: Special Education (P-12) for candidates who hold a Professional Level Four Certificate or equivalent in Special Education or candidates with a Professional Level Four Certification in a teaching field other than Special Education if prerequisite course work is completed.
Concentration Four: Early Childhood Education (P-5) for candidates who hold a Professional Level Four Certificate or equivalent in Early Childhood Education.
Concentration Five: Instructional Improvement for candidates who hold a bachelor’s degree from a regularly accredited institution and who are interested in an advanced degree in education that does not lead to certification.
