Program Description:

The Doctor of Philosophy (Ph.D.) degree is offered in the following nine biomedical science majors:

• Biochemistry and Cancer Biology
• Cell Biology and Anatomy
• Genomic Medicine
• Molecular Medicine
• Neuroscience
• Oral Biology
• Physiology
• Pharmacology
• Vascular Biology

Outstanding areas of research in these programs include cancer biology, neurological diseases, cardiovascular diseases, obesity/diabetes and inflammation/infection to name a few. These and other areas of exciting biomedical research are available to pursue as a graduate student in these programs. Application to the biomedical sciences Ph.D. programs are through a common admissions process and not to a specific major.  First year students complete a set of core courses, specialized courses and laboratory rotations before selecting a major.

Students accepted into the program will be considered for a Graduate Research Assistantship (GRA), which includes financial support, a reduced tuition rate of $25/semester, and single-person health insurance coverage through the GRU Student Group Health Insurance plan.
