Program Description:

The Master of Social Work (M.S.W.) degree program is accredited by the Council of Social Work Education and prepares students to earn a clinical social work license in Florida. Curriculum in our program focuses on Clinical Community Practice and is designed to help students meet the needs of their local community. UWF offers a traditional master of social work degree or an advanced standing master of social work degree for students who have previously earned (or are in the process of earning) a B.S.W. degree. The Full-Time Program is designed to be completed in five straight semesters including the summer term. The program classes are held on Monday and Tuesday in the daytime. The program includes 900 hours of field education. The foundation placement is for one semester (300 hours) in a foundation agency. The advanced placement is for two semesters (600 hours) in a clinical setting, in the same agency. The Part-Time Program is designed to be completed in seven semesters including Summer Terms. The program classes are held on Friday night and all day Saturday. The program includes 900 hours of field education, which is completed during the week during daytime hours. The first foundation placement is for one semester (300 hours) in a foundation agency. The advanced placement is for two semesters (600 hours) in the same clinical setting. The Advanced standing program is limited to exceptional students who hold the BSW degree from a CSWE accredited social work program. The program is designed to be completed in three semesters, including summer term. The program is held on Friday night and all day Saturday. The student completes (600 hours) field education during the program. Field education is completed during the week, concurrently with the classroom instruction.
