Ph.D. degree in Cell and Molecular Biology, Master's (Thesis or Non-Thesis) in Biology with a Concentration in Cell and Molecular Biology
The Graduate Program in the Department of Cell Biology, Microbiology and Molecular Biology (CMMB) offers cutting edge research at the University of South Florida (USF) in the beautiful city of Tampa, FL. The Department of CMMB offers excellent graduate research training in core areas of biomedical research and modern biology such as Bacterial Pathogenesis, Genome Integrity & Mechanisms of Aging, and Structural & Computational Biology.
Our graduate program emphasizes broad, inter-disciplinary training, which encourages students to cross traditional boundaries. Modern research facilities within the University and the ease of access to multiple USF core-research facilities, such as proteomics, genomics and NMR, give our graduate students an extraordinary opportunity to design creative and significant research projects. Most, if not all, graduate students will have the opportunity to instruct undergraduate laboratories as Teaching Assistants. Graduate Teaching Assistants are provided guidance from mentors within the department and through the USF Center for 21st Century Teaching Excellence. While graduate education emphasizes creative research, graduate students are provided an opportunity to develop as teachers- both necessary skills for success as a professional scientist.
