M.A. - Religious Studies, Religious Studies Graduate Certificate
The MA in Religious Studies is a 36 credit hour program:
* Nine hours of core seminars,
* Twelve hours of track courses,
* AND either six hours of thesis and nine hours of electives, or fifteen hours of electives.
(The non-thesis track is not considered adequate preparation for doctoral work in the field.)
The program is meant to be taken on a full-time basis, and completed in 24-27 months, but it also accommodates part-time students. About half the students currently in the program are part-time. Evening offerings are limited, however, and most begin at 5 pm.
To graduate, a student must have a minimum of 3.0 GPA, and no grade under B- will be counted toward the 36 credit hour requirement.
The purpose of the Graduate Certificate Program is to offer an alternative to the MA degree program for students who wish to pursue an organized program of study in religious studies at the graduate level, but have no need of a degree and/or wish a shorter term project.
